How to Deduct Time Off and View Absences in HR Software
One of the most popular features in Staff Files, our HR software, is its ability to manage time off. In Staff Files you can accrue vacation and sick time automatically. That way all you have to do is manually deduct time off when an employee has actually taken time away from work.

To manually record an employee’s time off, go to that employee’s Accruals tab within Staff Files. Simply click on the Add button and the Manual Accrual Entry window will appear. In this window, you’ll enter the Start Date, number of Days or Hours the employee has taken off work, a description in the Notes field, the name or initials of the manager who authorized or recorded the employee leave, and the End Date in the Length of Absence field. When this information is saved, you’ll notice it automatically recalculates the employee’s accrual balance. You’ll also be able to see a list of Absences only in the View Absences tab and in the Employee Absences report.
Another handy time-off tool in Staff Files is the Staff Absence Calendar report. It shows when employees have been or are planning to be out. It’s helpful when preparing a upcoming vacation schedule for your staff.
